Mike Papantonio: BP's PR Machine
June 8, 2010Oil continues to gush into the Gulf of Mexico from BP's Deepwater Horizon rig, but something else has been gushing too lately: BP's public relations offensive. From controlling media access to the site, as Mac McClelland reported to us last week, to buying up search terms on the Web so that Google drives traffic to BP's own website, the oil company seems determined to burnish its image even as its oil continues to cover the coasts.Mike Papantonio, Ann Wright, and Learning from Roosevelt

May 24, 2010BP has yet to stop the oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, and the Obama administration seems content to let them remain in charge. Or is it that whether or not they are happy with the state of affairs, huge corporations like BP simply have too much control of our government? May 11, 2009The results of the Treasury Department’s touted "stress tests" are out – and so far the result is calls for massive new capital for banks. All together – it adds up to a needed $100 billion for Wells Fargo, Bank of America and the rest. Sooner or later we’ll be looking at TARP Three, I bet.
