GRITtv is off to Netroots Nation in Las Vegas, but before we headed out, we spoke to Sam Seder, who beat us there by a day or so. Former Air America host Seder will be on a panel with Laura and others on the demise of Air America, and we'll be conducting interviews all weekend.
As the progressive netroots gather, of course, the big story this week was a falsified video broken by a right-wing blog, and Seder explained why an equivalent story would never happen on the left. The problem isn't the medium, blogs and bloggers, Seder notes, it's a lack of accountability for right-wing "journalists."

I hate to say it. But as much as I like GritTV, I really didn’t get anything new from this clip.
That was one of the problems with Air America (and why it failed). It was always Bush and Cheney are evil. Rush is the Anti Christ, etc. Right. Now, tell me something that I DON’T know. And I never got that from AAR.
All I heard and read about were ego tripping. How come Al Franken’s making more (and gets way more air time than I do)? Now, there are still some who say if we just enough rich liberals to bankroll a new network, all of our problems will be solved.
I disagree. First, how did many of these rich liberals get their money? By working thru (and still working thru) corporations. So as wonderful as Michael Moore is to some, he’s not a stupid businessman. Even he knows he can only go so far (and still get studios to bankroll his films). Otherwise he’ll have to to the Middle East for funding (like Spike Lee and others).
Another reason it’ll never work? Way too many egos. Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy, Sam Seder in the same building? It’s a well-known fact that Ed Schultz despises Rhodes and Malloy. So what makes you think he would leave MSNBC and go into this? Not a chance.
This means that on the progressive side, its every person for themselves. And that’s not going to change for a long time.
