The Friends of the Israel Defense Force held a fancy fundraiser in Manhattan last night, but hundreds of Palestine solidarity activists gathered outside to protest. The protest, which was co-sponsored by over 20 activist groups, including Jews Say No!, Adalah-NY, American Jews for a Just Peace, Jewish Voice for Peace, and the National Lawyers Guild NY Chapter, and was endorsed by two Palestinian groups from the village of Bil’in and four Israeli groups.
Amer Shurrab, a Middlebury College graduate from Khan Yunis in Gaza, whose father and two brothers were killed in Operation Cast Lead, and Dorothy Zellner, founding member of Jews Say No!, join us to talk about the protests, Joe Biden's condemnation of Israeli settlement building, and more.
Thanks to Paul Park and Adalah NY for photos and video in this segment.

so Here’s how it works.
You won’t let me see the video because I have adblocker. Fair enough.
That other website that had cool stuff? I told lots of folks who don’;t have adblocker about it. They get more money through advertising because of my recommendation to my friends. By blocking me, are you assuming I will give you free advertising and free marketing like I did for those other folks?
You will just be forgotten by me, I wont recommend you to anyone, and other websites will get traffic you don’t apparently want. You are so very very savvy. derpa derpa derpa

Go Israel. The Palestinians should think twice before attacking Israel and then making absurd demands.
Oh and by the way take that Joe Biden, the Barak administration’s position on what Israel should do WITH THEIR COUNTRY IS NOT what the American people want. Israel has been and still is a close ally to the US. America should support Israel to the fullest with whatever action they decide to take. GO ISRAEL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SUPPORT YOU DESPITE OUR INEPT GOVERNMENT!!!

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. This is wonderful to get this out in the open. “Society itself is being distorted”. This is the greatest wisdom. The US society itself has also been distorted by all this war and hatemongering from many quarters of media and bought congressmen.
We have allowed for too long right-wing interest groups to funnel money from the US into West Bank to build roads and settlements, and uproot olive trees and destroy water sources. We have a double standard letting private money to go over there to build these aggravations, while accusing groups on the other side of “terrorism”. Of course they knew damn well this violation of Geneva Conventions and UN Resolutions granting Israel pre-1967 borders would result in hopelessness and terrorism. The same thing happened under British Mandate when the Stern Gang started blowing things up and killing British people in Cairo Hotels, etc. And it has happened countless times in history when ruling elites light matches and then quickly hide behind curtains as decades of violence unfolds!
But, good luck about the contracts. The US military industrial complex bought into this Israel thing a long time ago to get an “unsinkable aircraft carrier” in the oil zone and these corporate shareholders in both countries make beaucoup bucks from this ongoing conflict. And sending money over there for decades to build up the right-wing religious community was also part of the story to make sure the testosterone would rise and there would never be any peace in Israel/Palestine until everyone is morally destroyed, and families desecrated. The Bhagavad Gita says destroying families is the greatest evil. Even if the Torah, or Talmud or even Koran doesn’t! AT least the Koran says that desecrating fruit trees and water sources is the biggest evil. The others sure don’t, and now we’re all going to pay for that!

The Middle East is wracked with “identity politics” aspirations for territorial exclusiveness, and violence toward the other. But these are surface features. They reflect absolutist commitments to certain words, such as God and Allah, as well as a similar genuflection toward texts–Bible and Quoran. The inhabitants of the Middle East attach their selves to parochial symbols and thereby become Jews, Israelis, Muslims, and Palestinians. What is common to these enemies is a rejection of logical reasoning, for naming selves according to place of birth. But which is the significant place–the womb? a bed? a hospital? a city? a state? a country? earth? the universe? Adherence to which and to how many rituals? “I am a Jew.” “I am a Muslim.” “I am an Israeli.” “I am a Palestinian.” These are conclusions derived from an ancient fiat that human identity should correspond to place of birth and commitment to certain religious tenets. What justifies the privilege accorded these criteria? I am a Jew, therefore, what? I am a Muslim, therefore, what? Nothing logically follows from these self-identifications, and all claims to exclusive territory and states are invalid. Thus peace in the Middle East remains a chimera.

Re: James Abdulla
Iudex is a Latin word too! It refers to law codes and was applied to a subgroup of residents of some little tiny provinces in the east where people lived by law codes playing inside their heads, given to them by a ruling class of priests who made money taking temple sacrifices from Peasants. That was what the Romans observed, puzzled over, and so gave the name in Latin (which by the way isn’t a Christian language) based on their word for law. That is how the name was changed from Hiparu in the Western mind. There were plenty of other residents then too, Greek speakers, followers of Greek culture, and ethnic Syrians. Residents there eventually converted to Christianity starting in the 1st Century, when Hiparu descendents were thrown out because of their incessant nationalism. and predominantly by 4th Century. 200 years later, many of those residents converted to Islam when their territory became part of an expanding Arab empire the Umayyid Caliphate, which adopted Greek classical science and philosophy, and became the most enlightened and prosperous empire in the world while Europe was still run by warlords and thugs (and chief priests of course). So, what exactly is the pure fiction here?
